Splendid shoulders

How we carry the upper body will show the world exactly how we feel, even our thoughts will influence the ability of the shoulder girdle.

Yin yoga: Deep stretching and relaxation with Clare Wener

Yin is a form of yoga that works on stretching the body’s connective tissue (ligaments, bones and joints) in the pelvis, hips and spine. Instead of getting ourselves into the most pretzel-like yoga postures, the yin challenge is the duration over which the poses are held – for around five to ten minutes.

Yin encourages you to let go of any goals and ambition and just ‘be’ in the pose, finding stillness and deep relaxation.

If you regularly do sport or practice ashtanga or other dynamic styles of yoga, it’s the perfect complement – gently opening your body to improve your flexibility. Or just come along and experience a level of relaxation that’s out of this world…

Clare teaches yin yoga in Harpenden and London.
